Every now and then, I photograph something that make my heart skip a beat, and this little Northern Pygmy Owl was no exception. No bigger than a pop can, this girl treated us to several hours of observation while she went about her business. NPO's are animated and social little birds and are completely at ease around humans. So much so, that she swooped down and killed a vole not 10 feet from my feet.
With gratitude to fellow birder and mad photographer, Steve P for alerting me to this gorgeous owl.
