Witless Bay Ecological Reserve consists of four islands that team with birdlife during the breeding season. The reserve is home to North America's largest Atlantic Puffin colony with more than 260,000 pairs nesting here during the late spring and summer. It's also home to the second largest Leach's storm-petrel colony in the world with over 620,000 nesting pairs. In addition, black-legged kittiwakes and common murres appear in the thousands. Humpback whales are often in Witless Bay feeding on the abundant population of catlin fish.
